Negen Straatjes (translated; nine streets). The nine streets are situated between the canals in the Jordaan district. Every street has small boutiques that specialize in fashionable items or handicraft. The Jordaan district was build in 1612 for the laborers and now has incredible historical buildings, restaurants, café’s and shops.
Cornelis Schuyt Straat
The Cornelis Schuytstraat is known for its high end and stylish stores, with owners who specialize in exclusivity and trendy goods. With its hardware and grocery store, this is certainly not a street that is ‘a dime a dozen’.
This lively street near the central train station has a variety of shops, lunchrooms, restaurants and bar’s. If you find the main shopping street Kalverstraat too busy or commercial, you might feel more comfortable in the Haarlemmerstraat.
